CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: I Love You, I Hate You.

Hi everyone,

In collaboration with a Danish friend of mine, I am curating a literary reading of love letters and looking for submissions. Be brave of heart and consider sending us something. Details below.

Also, if you know of anyone who might have an interesting letter to share, please send this call along.

With love,

Cecilia Aldarondo (US) and Ida Marie Hede (DK)

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

I love you, I hate you.

A one-night reading of love letters

co-curated by

Ida Marie Hede (Copenhagen, Denmark) and Cecilia Aldarondo (Minneapolis, USA)

Does intimacy only ever exist between two people? Is the love letter, an ancient literary form, inherently dualistic? Is it unethical to share the contents of a love letter in public?

We seek your love letters. Submissions will be considered for inclusion in two one-night literary readings to be held in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Copenhagen, Denmark. Send us letters that you have either sent or received in your lifetime.

Submission guidelines:

  • Please do not try to re-write history; send letters in their entirety, as originally written, or not at all.
  • Also, please include a 2 or 3-sentence statement per letter, with any contextual information about the letter that you wish to provide. If selected, all letters will be presented anonymously.
  • We are considering love in all its forms. Feel free to send us letters to and from friends, family, strangers, colleagues, cherished pets—and lovers.
  • Multiple submissions are welcome.

Deadline for submissions: July 15, 2010.

Send all submissions to: lovelettersubmit@gmail.com

You are welcome to either transcribe the letter or scan and send it as a low-res jpeg.
